Christopher Lee, Dennis Waterman and Jenny Hanley are captured in a magnificent color scene from SCARS OF DRACULA (1970), as Count Dracula formally receives Simon Carlson and Sarah Framsen inside his castle. Dracula extends his hand toward Sarah as she sits regally in an elaborate gilded chair, while Simon stands directly behind her watching the encounter, creating an extraordinary composition of aristocratic ceremony, Gothic elegance and barely concealed menace.
Directed by Roy Ward Baker for Hammer Films, SCARS OF DRACULA follows Simon Carlson and his fiancée Sarah Framsen as they search for Simon’s missing brother, Paul, eventually reaching Dracula’s castle. Christopher Lee’s Dracula initially presents himself as a controlled and courteous host, but his interest in Sarah quickly becomes dangerous. This image captures that deceptive moment of civility before the castle’s true threat fully reveals itself, with Lee, Waterman and Hanley all present in one unusually rich Hammer composition.
Carefully restored and professionally printed from archival source material, this museum-quality photograph preserves the deep Hammer color, ornate gilded furnishings, candlelit Gothic setting and striking interaction between Dracula, Sarah and Simon—a distinctive collectible for admirers of Christopher Lee, Jenny Hanley, Dennis Waterman, SCARS OF DRACULA and classic Hammer Gothic horror photography.
