JULIE EGE turns toward the camera with a radiant smile in this striking color Hammer glamour publicity photograph associated with CREATURES THE WORLD FORGOT (1971). Posed topless with her back toward the camera, Ege wears bright bikini bottoms emblazoned with the enormous numerals “1971,” creating an unmistakably period-specific image in which her flowing hair, playful pose and bold year lettering become the defining elements of the composition.

Directed by Don Chaffey and written and produced by Michael Carreras for Hammer Film Productions, CREATURES THE WORLD FORGOT gave Ege her first starring film role as Nala alongside Tony Bonner, Robert John, Brian O’Shaughnessy and Marcia Fox. Hammer mounted an extensive promotional campaign around the Norwegian actress, presenting her as its “new sex symbol of the 1970s” while promoting the prehistoric adventure as a successor to the studio’s earlier cave-girl spectacles. Shot on African locations and released by Columbia Pictures in 1971, the film became closely associated with the glamour publicity built around its new leading actress.

Carefully restored from archival photographic materials and professionally lab-developed, this museum-quality photograph is presented uncropped, preserving the complete image area contained in the original archival source. Ege’s over-the-shoulder smile, topless pose and extraordinary “1971” bikini-bottom lettering make this a particularly distinctive piece of Hammer-era publicity imagery for collectors of CREATURES THE WORLD FORGOT, Julie Ege and 1970s British cult cinema.
