SEAN CONNERY and CLAUDINE AUGER are captured during beach filming for THUNDERBALL (1965) in Nassau, Bahamas, with director TERENCE YOUNG and the surrounding production crew fully visible in this extraordinary behind-the-scenes photograph. Connery and Auger sit together on the sand as large location lights, stands, flags, cables and technicians fill the beach around them, while Young observes from a nearby chair beneath his broad-brimmed hat. The unusually wide composition transforms the filmmaking apparatus itself into a major part of the image.

Directed by Terence Young, THUNDERBALL stars Connery as James Bond and Auger as Domino Derval alongside Adolfo Celi, Luciana Paluzzi, Rik Van Nutter and Martine Beswick. Produced by Kevin McClory for the fourth Eon James Bond adventure, with Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman as executive producers, the production relocated to Nassau in March 1965 for extensive Bahamian location filming. Its beaches, underwater photography and large-scale action dramatically expanded the visual scope of the developing 007 series.

Carefully restored from archival photographic materials and professionally lab-developed, this museum-quality photograph is presented uncropped, preserving the complete image area contained in the original archival source. Connery and Auger seated amid the exposed crew, substantial lighting equipment and Terence Young directing from the beach make this an especially revealing production document for collectors of THUNDERBALL, Sean Connery, Claudine Auger and the history of James Bond 007 filmmaking.
