SUSAN DENBERG – FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN (1967) Bray Studios Dressing Room Candid Photo
Limited Edition Photograph (learn more)

SUSAN DENBERG relaxes in her Bray Studios dressing room during production of FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN (1967) in this intimate black-and-white behind-the-scenes publicity photograph. Barefoot and wearing a striped robe, Denberg sits beside the bright window amid clothing, shoes, furnishings and other everyday dressing-room belongings, creating a candid off-camera portrait far removed from the elaborate Gothic sets and carefully staged Hammer glamour photographs associated with her role. Exact-image provenance identifies the setting as Denberg’s Bray Studios dressing room, giving the photograph particularly strong documentary value for Hammer collectors.
Directed by TERENCE FISHER for Hammer Film Productions, FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN stars Denberg as Christina opposite PETER CUSHING’s Baron Frankenstein. Production ran from 4 July to 12 August 1966 at Bray Studios, Down Place, Berkshire, and the film was one of Hammer’s final productions made at its celebrated Bray home before its 1967 release. This dressing-room photograph therefore preserves not simply a portrait of Denberg, but an unusually personal record of daily working life during the closing period of Hammer’s historic Bray Studios era.
Carefully restored from archival photographic materials and professionally lab-developed, this museum-quality photograph is presented uncropped, preserving the complete image area contained in the original studio-issued archival material. Denberg’s relaxed pose, striped robe and unmistakable Bray Studios dressing-room surroundings make this a distinctive collectible for admirers of SUSAN DENBERG, FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN, Hammer Films, Bray Studios and classic British horror production photography.
