Hammer’s THE VAMPIRE LOVERS (1970) is represented through this provocative original British pre-production artwork, dominated by an enormous green female face, blood-red lips and dramatic vampire imagery against deep black shadow. The raised female figure, blood detail and sensual lower vignette immediately convey the combination of Gothic menace and eroticism that would make the film one of Hammer’s defining vampire productions of the early 1970s.
Directed by Roy Ward Baker, THE VAMPIRE LOVERS stars Ingrid Pitt as Carmilla Karnstein alongside Peter Cushing, George Cole, Kate O’Mara, Madeline Smith and Douglas Wilmer. Adapted from Sheridan Le Fanu’s CARMILLA, the Hammer–American International Pictures co-production launched the Karnstein film cycle later continued with LUST FOR A VAMPIRE and TWINS OF EVIL. Hammer records confirm that pre-production was already underway around the turn of 1970, with the AIP partnership central to bringing the project to the screen.
KissMeMonster’s 18x24 fine art poster is professionally produced on archival Moab Lasal Photo Matte paper, a substantial 21-mil, 310gsm professional-grade stock selected for high-quality photographic and fine art presentation. The saturated green-and-red imagery, provocative early campaign design and unmistakable Hammer vampire aesthetic create a distinctive display piece for THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, Ingrid Pitt, Hammer Horror, Carmilla and classic British horror poster collectors.
