Olinka Berova is captured with a wonderfully surprised and animated expression in this exceptionally rare color glamour publicity photograph associated with THE VENGEANCE OF SHE (1968). Immersed in a luxurious blue bathing pool and surrounded by colorful floating water lilies, Berova suddenly turns her gaze upward with her mouth open in apparent surprise, giving this striking companion photograph an unusually spontaneous quality.

OLINKA BEROVA - THE VENGEANCE OF SHE (1968) Rare Surprised Nude Pool Water Lilies Hammer Glamour Publicity Photo

Unlike the serene, carefully poised composition of its companion image, this photograph derives much of its appeal from Berova’s expressive reaction. Her elaborate blonde hairstyle and polished makeup contrast beautifully with the playful immediacy of the moment, while yellow and white flowers drift across the blue water around her. The wider composition also reveals more of the ornate pool setting, enhancing the exotic atmosphere associated with the production.

Born Olga Schoberová in Czechoslovakia, Berova was promoted internationally under the name Olinka Berova and became associated with European glamour and adventure cinema during the 1960s. Her appearance as Carol in THE VENGEANCE OF SHE brought her into the world of Hammer Films during a period when the British studio was expanding beyond its celebrated Gothic horror productions into exotic fantasy and adventure.

THE VENGEANCE OF SHE (1968) was produced by Hammer Film Productions as a follow-up to SHE (1965), returning to the fantasy world inspired by the writings of H. Rider Haggard. Directed by Cliff Owen, the film stars Olinka Berova alongside John Richardson, Edward Judd, Colin Blakely and André Morell.

For collectors of Hammer cinema and 1960s glamour photography, this unusual companion image offers something particularly appealing: a glamorous publicity setting transformed by Berova’s wonderfully unexpected expression. The bathing pool, floating flowers, vivid color and spontaneous character of the pose combine to create a memorable example of Hammer-era promotional photography.

Carefully restored and professionally printed from archival source material, this museum-quality photograph is a distinctive collectible for admirers of Olinka Berova, THE VENGEANCE OF SHE, Hammer Films, H. Rider Haggard adaptations, 1960s glamour photography, British fantasy cinema, and rare Hammer publicity imagery.
